History

Interestingly, the trace of the human race here dates back to 3000 BC with the Roman and the Punic remains. However, the local population began to grow with the arrival of the Moors here. After many upheavals, Benidorm finallyrose to progress in the 17th century with the introduction of the new irrigation system to the region through the channels.Around the 18th century, the fishermen of Benidorm started contributing to develop the area like most parts of Spain. But, fishing went down in the middle of the 20th century. Benidorm has finally caught up it’s tourists flavour. You will be surprised to know that it receives around 5 million tourists every year. Benidorm is a hotspot tourist destination among the people from UK, Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium and Germany.

You can usually find a temperate climate here all throughout the year. The wettest month is September that receives on an average 76 mm of rain while January is the coldest month with an average temperature of 11 degrees. August is the hottest month here when the temperature can reach 30 degrees.
