Almeria is a homonymous capital city of the province of Almeria, which is an autonomous community of a Spanish and southwestern historical community, named Andalusia. This capital city is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea and the provinces of Murcia and Granada. Spanning an area of 8774.87 square kilometers, this city has a population of 701,688 according to a survey carried out in 2014 and the official language spoken is Spanish. History

The city of Almeria was founded in 955 AD by Calipha Abd-ar-Rahman III belonging to Cordoba with an aim to build this city as a principal harbor in order to strengthen his defences against any arrack from the Mediterranean sea front. Alcazaba de Almería, the Moorish Castle in his domain which is the second largest Muslim fortress. Different civilizations have found their home in this province throughout since it was founded, significant traces of which can still be seen in the remains of the archeological monuments, which can still be found scattered throughout the province of Almeria. This port city reached its peak as a historical evidence when it was ruled by local Muslims who were then powerful, like Jairan. The state of autonomy of Almeria was approved after being approved by the new constitution of Spain, after the death of Franco.

Almeria has the highest Muslim population among all the Spanish Cities as compared in proportions to other religious communities. According to a survey, the Muslim population in this city stood at around 20%. Although dominated by Muslims, you will find large numbers of expats, because of the tourist attractions this province has. While the sun shines brightly over Almeria at around 11 A.M. during the whole month of July, the hottest month is August, when the average temperature hovers round 27 degree Celsius, while the coldest month is January, when the average temperature is round 27 degree Celsius. Sometimes it falls to around 8 degree Celsius in January, but the best time to visit Almeria is the period from March to December.
