Arikok National Park acquires about eighteen percent of the Aruba Island. The park has three important geological structures: a quartz diorite formation, limestone formation and Aruba lava formation. The natural wonders and human habitats of the Aruba Island has been influenced to a great extend by these formations. Arikok National Park and the island is the home for varied species that only inhabit the island. Two unique species of snake and birds are the major ones to be mentioned.
The outcroppings of the rock help in creating ideal micro climate that support the rare animal and plant species and also the settlements. Some of the oldest and finest Arawak paintings can be seen in the Arikok Park. The park got declared as a national area of high importance during 1980’s and draw government attention.
