Curacao is an island country founded in the southern Caribbean Sea in the Dutch. It is officially referred to as the Country of Curacao. The main island as well as the deserted island of Klein Curacao combined forms this island country. Willemstad is the capital of this country. The country is spread over an area of approximately 444 sq. km. The island was governed as the ‘Island Territory of Curacao’ till 2010. It was prior to termination of the Netherlands Antilles. The name of the island is believed to be derived from ‘Coracao’. It stands for ‘island of healing’.
