Turks and Caicos Island is also known as TCI consists of smaller Turks Islands and the larger Caicos Islands. They form a British Overseas Territory and are known for an offshore centre for finance and mainly for tourism. Cockburn Town is the capital of Turks and Caicos Islands since the year 1766 and is located in the Grand Turk Island. After Bahamas gaining their independence in the year 1973 the islands had their own governor and since then has remained to a separate self governing British Overseas Territory.
