Situated in Central America, Costa Rica is a rugged rainforest country with the Pacific Ocean and The Carttibean Sea forming its coastlines. It is more known for its biodiversity, volcanoes and beaches besides protected jungles inhabited by wildlife that include large numbers of quetzal birds and spider monkeys. The capital of Costa Rica is San Jose which is the home for cultural institutions like the Gold Museum. Having an area of 51,100 Sq. km, it is smaller that the state of West Virginia and is bordered by Panama to the south and Nicaragua to the north. The Cordillera de Talamanca and the Cordillera Volcanica are the two main mountain ranges and has an effect of earthquakes and volcanoes in the state. Diversity and beauty of nature is in abundance in Costa Rica which is covered by forests and national parks and is the home to flowering plants which number in more than 9000 varieties and 2000 species of tropical dry forest trees. Languages spoken include the indigenous Bribri language and English being the second language. Developed social system, high standard of living and political stability make Costa Rica apart from other neighbors in Central America.
