Alpes-de-Haute is a subdivision that is located to the south of France earlier it was a segment of the region of Provence. The department was earlier known as the Bas-Alpines and hence the term used to refer to the local residents. The subdivision shares its borders with other departments of France. The region is divisible into three zones. These include the lower Alps, the higher Alps and the plateaux. The last one is composed of hills and valleys. The region is best known for its natural beauty. There are countless natural spots that attract tourists from across the globe.
