Following January 2016, it was become a part of the new province named as New Aquitaine. There are five departments in the province. It is a leader in the field of aeronautics. The major economic activity in the region is agriculture. It is attributed to good rainfall in the province. Corn is the major produce. Also, there is abundance of grape vineyards. Wine production is also carried out at large scale. The province is also famous for its attractive tourist spots.
