Artignosc-sur-Verdon is a town or village in the south-eastern France. It is located in the Var subdivision of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur district of the country. The city covers an area of 18.53 sq.km for its expansion. It is really a nice place that has an undamaged natural environment. That is why it is the preferred and admired destination for most tourists. The houses in the village are located in clusters at the foot of the Thoron chateau. This chateau dates back to the 14th and 15th centuries. There are some ancient and beautiful fountains as well in the village that add to its charm and beauty. History

Originally, the city was named as Artignosco in 1200 and then Arinosc in 1235. It came to be known as Artinhosco in the 14th century. The monks of St. Victor St. Mary’s Church of Artignosc were liberated by the Bertrand De Pontevès in 1036. He was the son of the lord Barjols. Then the city was handed over to St. Honnorat Lérins after around a century to the Abbey Marseille. Following this, the city was taken over by the Pierre Négrel during the 1st half of the 13th century. The new lord of the city was the bishop of Riez. The authority of this dispute was then handed over to the Fulk of Pontevès by the Countess of Provence-Queen Joan in 1385. The city underwent massive destruction due to plague and sequential wars. In the late 15th century, Genoese and Spanish families settled in the city. De Thoron from the town of Digne was the owner of the mansion in 1654. During the same time, Antoine Thoron II was the first lord of Artignosc Advisor Parliament of Provence. He was married to Gabrielle Boyer-Bandol. He was buried in the St. Clair altar in the parish church.

The city has a total population of 242 people as per 2006 census records. Its population density is 13 per sq.km.

Climate

Attributed to more rainfall in winter season as compared to the summers, the city enjoys a warm and temperate climate. It is supposed to be Csb type in accordance with Koppen and Geiger classification system. The city has an average temperature and average rainfall of 11.9°C and 764 mm respectively. The month of July is the driest and warmest one as it has the maximum average temperature and least rainfall throughout the year. The average temperature during this month is 20.3 °C and average rainfall here is 25mm only. On the other hand, January is the coldest month with an average temperature of 4.2 °C. Similarly, October is the wettest month with an average rainfall of 88 mm. The variation in average temperatures throughout the year is 16.1 °C.
