Bagnols-en-Foret is a small city in south-eastern France. It is located in Var subdivision of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur area. Expanded over an area of 42.9sq.km, it is a lovely village. It is suspended on a point that extends west from the Bois de Bagnols. The background of the village is quite clear. There are forests of umbrella pines all around the village. It has really a fantastic view over the valleys and hills. There are fields that are stretched all over the village and give a wonderful appearance when looked from some distance. History

Discovery of the original name Bagnols of the village during 11th century confirms its discovery or origin during that time. From prehistoric times, the inclusions are still found in the village at La Forteresse and Bayonne. Presence of Romans and their occupancy can be confirmed from the presence of Gallo-Roman remnants at St. Denis to the west side. There is also a Romanesque chapel named St-Donat-et-St-Domnain on a Roman site at this place. Additionally, the village has still preserved a Roman “meules” or millstone carving factory at the Col de la Pierre du Coucou. The village was a part of the fief of the Bishops of Fréjus during medieval times.

The city is inhabited by around 2,174 people as per 2006 census. It has a population density of 51 per sq.km.

Climate

Due to more rainfall in winter season in contrast to the summers, the village has a mild, warm and temperate climate. As per viewpoint of Koppen and Geiger classification system, the climate in Bagnols-en-Foret is considered to be Csb type. An annual average rainfall of 841mm is received in the city. Out of this, maximum amount of rainfall occurs in the month of November. It is around 114mm on an average and hence it is the wettest month of the year. On the other hand, least amount of rainfall is received during the month of July at an average of 17mm. Thus it is the driest month of the year. The rainfall in both these months differs by 97mm. The city has an average temperature of around 13.3 °C. The months of July and January are the warmest and the coldest ones respectively.
