Brignoles is a small town in the VAR region of the south-eastern France. It lies in the department of Provence Alpes Cote d’ Azur and covers a total area of 70.53 sq.km. Brignoles lies on the banks of the Caramy River. You will find museum and Christian altars that were built in the third and fourth century. The markets of Brignoles are famous for peaches, honey and olive. French is the official language used in the town.

History

The town was a residential area of the counts of Provence. They built castles during the 13th century. The Brignoles Old town was built in the 18th century during the middle Ages. You will come across some old churches, buildings, hospices, and museums that are of extreme historical significance. During the 19th and 20th century, the town was the main site for mining of aluminium and bauxite. However as time passed by, it has developed into a main wine and agriculture center.

The census of 2008 records a total population of 15,912 and the population density is 230 per sq.km in the town.

Climate

Brignoles has a warmer temperate climate all over the year. The average annual temperature remains 13.5⁰C. During the summers, the temperature rises to a peak of 21.5⁰C during the month of July. There is lesser rainfall during the summers. July is the driest month of the year with a minimum rainfall of 16 mm. The winters are cold with low temperature of 6.5⁰C during January.
