Callas is a nice village positioned in the south-eastern France. It is situated in the Var subdivision in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur district. It is suspended on a sharp point on a hill and hence becomes visible from the valley beneath it. It lies near to some of the most excellent wine growers’ vineyards in France. It is an ancient town that still preserved the remnants of the old chateau from the 13th century. The town is expanded over an area of 49.26sq.km. There are numerous colorful buildings, a few primeval stone walls and step-streets. It implies you can still find the ancient Callas in the streets of this modern town. Callas is known for its unique art and craft works as well as vinegar. The vinegar is still produced by the traditional techniques in the village.

History

As far as history of the city is concerned, it can be traced back to the 1030 year. It is due to discovery of the first name of the city Calars during this period. The city once was inhabited by an important Gallo-Roman institution at the Trinite area. It lies at the western border of the village. It is evident from the presence of a villa and a destroyed temple, with ceramic, message and a makeup box. Also there is the sole Roman grave in an open area under the villa. During 15th and 16th centuries, the city was a part of the fief of the Pontevès family.

As there is more rainfall during winter season in the city therefore Callas has a warm and temperate climate. The Koppen and Geiger classification system considers it to be Csb type. There is an annual average rainfall of 818mm in the city. The month of November receives maximum rainfall of around 105mm. Hence it is the wettest month. There is just 21mm of rainfall in the month of July which is the least amount of rainfall all through the year. Hence it is the driest month. The precipitation amid November and July differs by 84mm. The average temperature in the city is 12.5 °C. The maximum and minimum average temperatures in the city are 20.4 °C and 5.2 °C respectively. It is during the months of July and January in that order. Thus these are considered to be the hottest and coldest months of the year correspondingly.
