Correns is a subdivision in south-eastern France. It is located in the Var subdivision in the Provence-Alpes-Cote-d Azur area. It is just a small village on the banks of the Argens River in the Var provence. It is situated at a distance of 10km to north of Brignoles. The city is known as Courrens in Provencal language. The village is located at the entrance of two canyons- Vallon Sourn and Bagarede. It is the foremost organic village of France. It is because all the grapes and foods produced in the village are organic. The city is considered to be a ‘Bio Village’. There is rich green rural area in the village that is irrigated by underground water channels. The major produced product of the village is wine. It is spread over an area of 37.06sq.km. There are numbers of fountains in the village. The major economy of the village is based on olives, handicrafts, honey and tourism.

History

The first records of the name Correnum of the city can be traced back to 920. Along the Argens river in the northwest prehistoric occupancy is found in the village. It is in the region of Sous-Ville. Also the works of art from Gallo-Roman period are found in the areas of Sous-Ville and Saint-Marc. During the medieval times, the earliest village was on the top of a hill. The fortress of Fort-Gibron from the 10th century from the feudal can also be found in the centre of the village.

The city has a warm and temperate climate. There is more rainfall in the winters as compared to the summer season. According to Koppen and Geiger classification system, the city has Csb type climate. There is an average temperature of 13.7 °C and an average rainfall of 724 mm in the city on annual basis. The month of July has the highest temperature of 21.9 °C. Hence it is considered to be the hottest month of the year. In contradiction to this, the city has least amount of temperature during the month of January. It is around 6.4 °C on an average. Therefore it is the coldest month of the year. The city receives maximum rainfall during the month of November. There is an average rainfall of 90 mm during this month. On the other hand, there is least rainfall in the month of July. It is around 16mm on an average. There is difference of around 74mm of rainfall amid the wettest and the driest months.
