Hyeres is a municipality or village in the south-eastern France. It is located in the Var subdivision in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur area of the country. It is an old town that is located at a distance of 4km from the sea. It is huddled around the Castle of Saint Bernard on a hill. The hill of Costebelle that is covered with pines trees is located between the old town and the sea. It overlooks the peninsula of Giens. It is a small Provencal town. It is spread over an area of 132.28sq.km. The town is also popularly known as Hyères-les-Palmiers due to abundance of pine trees here.

Botanical Garden
It is a lovely botanical garden that is a must-see spot for all visitors who visit Hyeres. You will come across some of the rarest species of plants in the garden. There is a pool that has palm trees and coloured massifs all around. There is also the provision for children’s games, small train, pony ride and many more fun-filled activities.
Beach
It is a very long beach that extends for around 5kilometres. Due to west winds at the beach, the kite surfers enjoy at this place. There is white sand on the beach. The low water levels allow children as well to enjoy some activities in water.

Spring is the most delightful time to visit Parc st Bernard as the most fabulous plants and flowers. Since the park is located at a higher altitude, it is recommended to park your vehicle at the top of the hill and admire the panoramic and spectacular views of the wildlife and then make your way down with a 10 minute walk following the guided signs &you will come to Parc st Claire.
Monument
You may take a tour of this ancient monument. It is basically devoted to Saint Blaise. You may see the ruins of the Commandery belonging to 12th century. Currently, it is serving as a venue for exhibitions. It is of great religious as well as historical worth.
The history of the village dates backs to the 4th century BC when Phoenician settlement was found in the city. It was a city of the Massiliotes and was equipped against the tribe of the Sayles. Also the place was once inhabited by the Greek and Roman civilizations during 964. Initially, it was under the possession of the Viscount of Marseilles and was transferred to Charles of Anjou afterwards. It was during 1254 that Louis IX King of France arrived in the village during his return from the Crusades. In the 12th century, the village witnessed settlement of a commandary of the Knights Templar. In the 20th century, Walter Krivitsky took shelter in the village. The year 1944 has special significance in the history of the village. It was during this year that the joint United States/Canadian First Special Service force landed on the coast of Hyeres as a part of Operation Dragoon.
The total population of the village is 56,275 according to 2006 census. Its population density is 430per.sq.km.
Like other villages in the Var subdivision, Hyeres also has warm and temperate climate. Overall it has lovely climate throughout the year. The month of July is the hottest one whereas January is considered to be the coldest month of the year. The city receives maximum rainfall in the month of October. There is an average rainfall of around 105mm during this month. Hence it is the wettest month of the year. On the other hand, the month of June is the driest one as it receives only 35mm of rainfall.
