Also known as Le Levant, Ile du Levant is a small French island in the Var subdivision of the Provence Cote d’Azur area. It is located in the south-eastern corner of France. It lies in the Mediterranean off the coast of the Riviera close to Toulon. It is one among the four islands that combined constitute the Îles d’Hyères. It is 8 by 2 kilometres long. It is situated in the Gulf of Lion. Only 10% of the island is open for public. It is because 90% of the island is reserved for a military missile test centre named the Centre d’Essais de Lancement de Missiles. The entire island is covered by vegetation. It is worth noting that Le Levant is popularly known as a nude or nudist’s island as you can see people without clothes or with minimum clothes all through the island. It is done to promote a spirit of naturalism in the locals as well as the visitors. There are abundance of palm trees and cacti all over the island. This island is particularly recognized for vast varieties of flora and fauna. The entire island is full of greenery and makes you feel like in heaven.
