Le Luc is a small town in the south-eastern France. It is also known as Le Luc-en-Provence. The city is located in the centre of the Var subdivision in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur area of the country. It is the capital of its own canton Canton of Le Luc. The local people here are referred to as Lucois-es. Le Luc is known to have maximum numbers of summer days in France. The city is spread over an area of 44.16 sq.km. In the city, you can feel the charm of the ancient times which is blended with the contemporary vibrant local economy. It is an agricultural town. It is all attributed to its unique location at the crossroads of the main routes in the Var Provence. There are numbers of historical spots and other tourist attractions in the village that appeal to the visitors.

History

Le Luc became a feudal lordship in the early 11th century. The Protestants got freedom of worship in the 17th century. In the early 20th century, it came up as a renowned spa town. In the history of the city, the construction of Le Luc airport is very important. This airport was constructed before World War II. During Invasion of the south-eastern France in August 1944, this airport was confiscated by the Allied Forces during Operation Dragoon. The United States Army Air Forces Twelfth Air Force XII Engineer Command repaired it. It was then used for various operations by XII Fighter Command on 22nd August. The airport was returned on 13th September to the French Civil control following movement of the fighting units to the Eastern France.

Climate

Attributed to much of the rainfall during winter season, Le Luc enjoys a warm and temperate climate. The Koppen and Geiger classification system considers it to be Csb type. The city has recorded an average temperature and rainfall of 13.8 °C and 766 mm in that order. The month of July is the hottest and driest one with average temperature and average rainfall of 21.7 °C and 15mm respectively. On the other hand January is the coldest month of the year as average temperature drops down to around 6.8 °C during this month. Maximum average precipitation occurs during the month of November thereby making it the wettest month of the year. It is receives an average rainfall of 100mm. During the year, there is variation of 14.9 °C in the average temperatures. The difference of rainfall in the wettest and driest months is 85mm.
