Meounes-les-Montrieux is a community or municipality in the south-eastern France. It is a picturesque village that is situated in the Var subdivision of Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur area. The exact location of the village is in the Naj River to the north of Toulon. It is a forested valley. It is spread over an area of 40.92sq.km. It is situated at a height of 275 metres above sea level. There are roads that lead to the town. The roads have trees on both the sides. You can rest under shade at any point as there are trees all around. Also it gives an amazing green look to the entire village. The village is known for its greenery as well as fresh pollution-free atmosphere. The location of the village in the foothills of the Sainte Baume imparts it an amazing appearance. There is the valley of Gapeau all around. There is continuous flow of water in the village from the 10 fountains. History

The history of the village dates back to 965 when the earlier name of the village called as Melna was found in the historical records. Also you can find other similar name recorded as Molana during 1060 in the history. This name was basically derived from the term montagne which means mountain. Other possible term that may be considered as derivative of this name is miel that refers to the quality of local honey. In the village, around 8 villas from Gallo Roman times could be still found. St-Lazare and Cros de l’Oume are also among these eight villas. Also there is a one metre high pagan alter stone in the village. You can find the word ‘IOVI’ carved on it. It stands for Jupiter. Currently, it is put on display in the Hotel de Ville (town hall). Additionally, you can also find a stone from a Gallo-Roman temple in the church.

The total population of the village is 1,790 according to 2006 census. The population density here is 44 per sq.km.

The general climate in the village is considered to be warm and temperate. It is due to more rainfall in the winter season as compared to the summers. The climate in the village is classified into Csb type as per Koppen and Geiger classification system. The average temperature and rainfall in the village is 13.7 ° C and 719 mm in that order. The month of July is considered to be the hottest one. It has an average temperature of 21.6 ° C. Contrary to this, the month of January is considered to be the coldest one. It has an average temperature of 6.7 ° C. The average temperatures vary by 14.9 ° C throughout the year. The months of October and July are considered to be the wettest and driest months.
