Puget-sur-Argens is a city in the Provence Alpes-Côte d’Azur region that is located 687 km. from the south-east side of the Paris. It is called as Lou Puget d’Argèns in French but many people know it as El Petit Puig. It distinguish its identity from the formerly more important Puget-Ville. It is located at the crossing of the Route A8 auto-road and Route nationale 7. There are many companies in the town since 1950 and the population of the city has multiplied four time. There is very strong economic and demographic expansion in the city that tends to transform this small city into a suburban working and residential area. Natives or inhabitants of Puget-sur-Argens is called Pugétois.

History

Saracens razed villa Pogito and at that time Puget was first mentioned in 940. In 973 William I of Provence gave half of the field to Bishop of Fréjus Riculpheat his end days. In 1203, the bishop Raymond of Capella took the entire area including the fort on the peak. Since 1482, this city is attached to the kingdom of France but faced serious attacks such as Charles V to religious wars from 1530 to 1598. In 1707, nearly entire town was destroyed by the Victor Amadeus I troops those were returning from the siege of Toulon. In 1886 the town was mentioned with the name of Argens River for gaining its own unique identity. In 1918, the eastern Army set their transit camp in this town. In 2005, July 5; serious fire broke forced more than 10,000 campers to move away from the city. In this major fire; ten villa were destroyed but it was nothing as compared with the violent rainstorm of 15 June 2010 that caused serious damage to the town.

Climate

Puget-sur-Argens is located very close to the French Riviera and you can enjoy Mediterranean climate in this town. It gets hot in summers and mild wet in the winter seasons. Sometimes, mistral show its power and wind speed can reach up to 140 km per hour. The average temperature of this town is 15° C in summer with the maximum record of 24.2° C and minimum of 7° C. In winters, the average temperature drops to 2° C particularly in January and February. This area receives lots of rain especially in October (77 mm).
