Rians is a commune of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of VAR in the north-eastern of the Montagne Sainte-Victoire. The main income source of this village is harvesting and predominantly wine. This village is located on a hill and the most important building of this village is 12th century bell tower and Church of Notre Dame de Nazareth. This village is surrounded by large wooded area and three large valleys. This village is located 385 meters above the sea level with the Mediterranean climate. History

Since the prehistoric times, this village was populated by people and there are proof that around 40,000 years ago people used to live in caves of Rigabe. In the middle ages, the ‘Castrum’ of Rians settled in the three fertile valleys of Rians. In 17th century Lordship of Marseille viscounts was erected in marquisate as per Letters Patent from December 1657 to Claude Fabri, Adviser to the Parliament of Aix. Rians has played great role in the development of entire region. A pilgrimage was organised to the Lerin Islands before the Revolution of France. This village has faced numerous challenges including bad harvest in 1788 and very cold winter in 1788 and 1789. In 1788, general states election was organized by the state of Provence.
