Sollies-Ville is a small town in the south-eastern France, above the Gapeau Valley. Sollies-Ville is situated in the Var subdivision of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur area of the country. It is located in a serene environment away from the hassles of the modern life. There is greenery all around the village. It is expanded over an area of 14.1sq.km. The village is visible even from the distance. The village is guarded by a bell tower. It is in fact the major appealing factor of the village. Earlier it was known by the name Sollies Farlède. There are numerous historical sites in the city that attract customers automatically.

History

The city has played an important part in the history of the Comte de Provence. It was initially set up on a Celto Ligurian Oppidum. At that time, this site was a Roman castrum. The city remained under the administration of numbers of rulers such as the Vicomte de Marseille. Following this, it was passed on to the Bishop of Toulon and then to the order of Knights of Malat and finally to the Forbin family. This fact is evident from a Maltese cross that is still visible on a foundation of the village.

Climate

Sollies-Ville has a warm and temperate climate owing to comparatively more rainfall in winter season in contrast to summer season. It is CSB type climate in viewpoint of Koppen and Geiger classification system. The village has an average temperature and average rainfall of 13.7 °C and 734 mm respectively. There is maximum average temperature in the month of July. It is recorded at 21.5 °C. Contrary to this, there is least temperature of around 6.9 °C on an average during the month of January. That is why July is considered to be the hottest month whereas January is supposed to be the coldest month of the year. There is variation of 14.6 °C in the average temperatures around the year. Most of the precipitation occurs during the month of November and hence it is the wettest month of the year. It receives an average rainfall of 94mm. On the other hand, least amount of rainfall is received during the month of July and thus it is the driest month of the year. It receives an average rainfall of 13mm.
