St-Cyr-sur-Mer in fact stands for Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer. It is a municipality in the south-eastern France. It is located in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur area. In the community, other villages are also incorporated. These are Les Lecques, a port and beach resort plus La Madrague, a small port. The city shares its borders with La Ciotat, Bandol and La Cadière-d’Azur. There is a model of the Statue of Liberty in the city. It was donated by the sculptor named Frederic Bartholdi. The city is expanded on an area of around 21.15sq.km. The major economic activities in the city include agriculture and tourism. The city produces fruits, vegetables, olives and wine in abundance. The striking coastal setting of the city with pine forests and vineyards in the background offer it a wonderful appearance.

History

The history of the city dates back to around 4000BC when foremost population settled here. It is evident from the remains of pottery and flint found in the La Madrague. Following this, the city was occupied by Ligurian, Greeks and Romans. According to myths, the city got flooded under water during the 3rd century. Following this disaster, the survivors took shelter at high places in the city. After that the city passed on through various civilizations. In the 19th century, actual growth of the city took place with the settlements of Les Lecques and La Madrague. In 1838, it was named as Saint-Cyr-de-Provence. The current name Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer was given to it in the year 1907.

Mild, warm and temperate type of climate is found in the city. It is due to more rainfall in the winter season as compared to the summers. The climate is pointed to be Csa type according to Koppen and Geiger classification system. The city has an average annual temperature and rainfall of 14.7 °C and 646 mm respectively. The city has maximum temperature in the month of July. That is why it is considered to be the hottest month of the year. There is an average temperature of 22.8 °C during this month. The minimum temperature listed in the month of January when it is 7.5 °C on an average. For this reason, it is the coldest month of the year. The average temperatures vary by 15.3 °C in a year. There is maximum rainfall in the month of October with an average of 86mm. Hence it is the wettest month of the year. On the other hand, least rainfall occurs in the month of July. It is around 11mm on an average. Thus it is supposed to be the driest month. The difference of precipitation amid these two months is 75 mm.
