Vaucluse is a department in south-east France it gets its name from the Fontaine-de-Vaucluse.  The commune is surrounded by River Durance and Rhone. History

The department of Vaucluse was established on 12 August 1793. It was formed by taking the land of some nearby departments. There are some traces of Roman and Neolithic times. Around 1600 old coins were discovered in the village. A monastery and church was constructed in the village. Vaucluse underwent thorough some bad times when it was robbed by bandits. However the village rouse to fame during the eighteen century.

The census of 2013 records a total population of 549,949 in Vaucluse. The population density is 150 per square km. Avignon is the highest populated commune of Vaucluse with a population of 90,305. The population density of Avignon is 64.91 per square km.. Lagarde d’ Apt is the least populated with a population of 36 people only. It has a population density of 1.7/km2. The growing tourism industry of Vaucluse has led to an increase in the population.

Vaucluse has mild temperate climate all around the year. The Koppen and Geiger classification describes it as Cfb. July is the hottest month of the year with a temperature of 17.6⁰C. January is the coldest month of the year with a low temperature of -0.2⁰C. There is significant rainfall throughout the year. April remains dry with a rainfall record of 71 mm. August is the wettest month of the year with high rainfall of 107 mm.
