Aegean Islands are the cluster of islands in the Aegean Sea with Turkey to its east and mainland Greece to the west as well as north. The ancient Greek name for the sea which means Archipelago was then applied to the islands and now for the island groups. Majority of the Aegean Islands falls into Greek province which is split between nine administrative sections. Several smaller islands off the western coast of Turkey also fall under the same province.
