Maine is a US State located in the farthest northeast corner of the United States with Augusta as its capital. This region comprises large stretches of eroded valleys and coastal plains fed by the rivers formed by the receding glaciers coming down from the mountains which are formed by resistant rocks. The White Mts. and Longfellow Mts. Which are extensions of the Appalachian System are to be found here and Katahdiri is the highest point of Maine, which is also comprised of ridges, lakes, watercourses, rivers and streams. The majority of this state is forested by hemlock, white pine, hardwoods, fir and spruce, while wildlife in the forests includes the black bear, deer, moose and other animals small in sizes. You will also find plentiful fowl and fish. The largest cities in Maine are Bangor, Lewiston and Portland. The great parks include the Acadia National Park which is situated in Mt.
