EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MICHIGAN
Michigan is the French form of the Ojibwa word; mishigamaa, meaning "large water" or "large lake". The Wolverine State is located in the centre of the great lakes; Superior, Huron, Michigan, Ontario and Erie, these lakes make up the largest body of fresh water on Earth.
Michigan is the only state to consist of two peninsulas, the Upper and the Lower. The Mackinac Bridge is a five mile long suspension bridge, one of the longest in the world, connecting Michigan´s Upper peninsula to the rest of the state.
It is said that a person in the state of Michigan is never more than six miles from a natural water source or more than 85 miles from a Great Lake shoreline. This is probably because this state has more than 10,000 lakes.
