Located in the South Central region of United States, Oklahoma is the twentieth extensive and 28th most populated state of the country. The name of the state has come from Choctaw that means “red people”. Oklahoma was the 46th state of United States to get admitted to union in year 1907. The residents are known as the Oklahomans and the capital city is Oklahoma City.
The state of Oklahoma is an important producer of oil, natural gas as well as agricultural products. The economy also depends on energy, aviation, biotechnology and telecommunications. Oklahoma in the year 2007 was one among the fastest emerging economy in U.S. and was ranked in the list of other top states in terms of gross domestic product growth and per capita income. A major portion of the state lies in Cross Timbers, Great Plains and Interior Highlands of U.S. Oklahoma is placed on a union of major cultural regions of America and has also served as path for the cattle drivers.
