Geographically and physically located in the south central part of the country, Texas holds the distinction of being the second largest and the one of the most populous state. It shares its physical border with states like Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.

Texas is majorly associated with the US southwestern deserts, but still less than 10 percent of land area of Texas is desert. The population centers are located in areas of grasslands, prairie, forests, and the sea coastline. You can observe terrain that ranges from coastal swamps and piney woods, to rugged hills and rolling plains, the desert and mountains of the Big Bend while traveling from east to west.
